Recently purchased a Metzler ME888 front tire for my 2013 TBird Storm. Had it mounted and balanced by a local shop. Installed the wheel following Triumph procedure. Squared up the front end and then tightened to the pinch bolts in increments. Now there's a pronounced wobble in the handlebars at around 30mph. It is more noticeable on deceleration than acceleration. The bike operates at highway speeds with zero issues and tracks straight down the road at those speeds. Wheel bearings were checked when tire was installed.

Possible causes of this issue that I can think of:

-Forks are misaligned
-Steering bearings loose (did not notice any play when I had the front wheel off)
-Rear tire incompatibility
-Bad tire from the factory

Open to any other ideas or suggestions. Thank you.

What does "squared-up the front end" mean?
Depending on answer to that, I'd agree with Linkdog.

Were the upper pinch bolts on the triple trees loosened? If not then the forks would not need to be touched.

You can drop your brake pads out and check the balance the old way.

I bounced the front forks with the lower pinch bolts loosened to make sure that the forks weren't bound up in one spot on the axle. After a few bounces I tightened to torque.

I did not touch the triple tree bolts at all. Only the brakes, axle, and pinch bolts were removed. Followed triumph procedure.

Your description is exactly what mine did although my tire was no new. It also was a ME 880 , changed tires and it was good.

I've never done that, but sounds harmless enough.
Checking balance is a good idea, but to be honest, I gave up on Metzlers in favor of Avons long ago.
Too expensive, short-lived and got a lot of cupping.

1+ on the Avon's. I was getting 12 k on the Metz. Handling of the Avon's is far better.

Quick update on the situation:

Metzeler warrantied the tire. I had the new tire installed and balanced and the issue has resolved.
